Glenn Godwin named as Director of Quality and Safety

Harris Waste Management Group, Inc., Baxley and Cordele, Georgia, has hired Glenn Godwin as Director of Quality and Safety as of April 20, 2015.

Previously Godwin was Operational Excellence Manager at an Imerys mining and processing facility in Andersonville, Georgia, where he was responsible for 5S implementation, achieving cost reductions and facilitating continuous quality improvement. Godwin brings over a decade of experience to Harris, having quality, safety, management and leadership experience at a variety of companies throughout the state of Georgia.

Godwin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.

Harris Waste Management Group announces the retirement of Mr. George Elkins.

George has been the general manager of the Baxley, Georgia facility since December 2003. Prior to that George was purchasing manager at the Cordele, Georgia facility since Ocrober 1995.

Everyone at Harris appreciates the many years of service that George contributed to the organization and we wish him a happy, healthy retirement.

Renee Bodrey Announcement

Harris Waste Management is pleased to announce the promotion of Mrs. Renee Bodrey to the position of Parts Sales Manager / Administrator. Renee has been with Harris since March of 1995 and started in production control, then was promoted to Accounts Receivable Specialist, and finally to Accounts Receivable & Costing Specialist.

Renee is a native of Folkston, Georgia and she went to school at Old Dominion University in Norfork, Virginia where she studied finance and accounting. In her spare time Renee enjoys hunting, fishing, gardening, crafts, cooking, and spending time with family.

Renee will report directly to Jerry Jackson – Director of Services effective immediately. Please take a moment to welcome Renee to her new position and Harris Waste Management wishes her continued success.

Jon Lanker Announces Retirement after 46 years of service

Harris Waste Management Group, Inc. announce the retirement of Jon Lanker who has elected to retire after 46 years of service.  Jon started his career as a draftsman with Harris in 1966 where he moved up through the company as Inside Sales Representative then to Regional Sales Manager and in 1990, Jon was promoted into the position of  Ferrous Sales Manager.

Jon also served in the U.S. Navy for four years and received numerous medals for his service including the National Defense Service Medal.

Throughout Jon’s long career with Harris, he has become well known and respected within the Scrap and Waste Industries. He now looks forward to spending more time with his wife Anna and his two sons Michael and Jonathan..

Harris Continues to Invest in Latin-America

Harris is pleased to welcome Fernando Robayo to our team as LATAM Customer Service Advisor. Fernando joins the Harris LATAM team in Harris’ growing investment in Latin-America.

“Fernando is a great addition to Harris’ continued emphasis to our Latin-American customers. He will be a great asset to our expanding presence in the area,” said George Lanza, Global Commercial Director.

Robayo’s responsibilities include attending to client’s needs in equipment and parts sales, service, and customer support. Fernando speaks English, Spanish and has knowledge of Portuguese.
